Job Profiles:

How do you become the next big talent?

As an artist, you're the driving force behind the music. Your creative work is shaped by unfolding your own artistic visions. It's your talent and skill that evoke emotions, tell stories, and influence listeners everywhere. Whether it's live performances, studio recordings, or music videos - as an artist, you create and interpret music from the ground up.

Your role as an artist extends beyond the stage. Artists these days need a variety of skills since they don't always receive support in all aspects of the value chain. This means they have to do a lot themselves – from music production to marketing and promotion, and even budgeting. Artists often rely on funding. To be successful with their music, they need instruments, music lessons, technology, studio recordings, distribution, a website, and much more. Networks and funding institutions are crucial, providing support for artists in their endeavors.

There are various paths to becoming an artist. Whether through attending music schools, vocal or instrumental lessons, workshops, or breaking through with your own songs – the music industry offers space for diverse development. Practical experience, networking, and sometimes a bit of luck play a significant role in getting noticed and succeeding in the music world. An overview of nationwide pop support institutions or (female) networks can be found, for example, at Rock City or Initiative Musik.
